This activity explores the concepts of gender and identity through the lens of the comic strip “Joan of Arc is revealed to be a woman”. Participants draw tickets with terms related to gender, identity, and social dynamics. They interpret the comic strip to explain the meaning of each term, connecting the abstract concepts to the visual narrative. This activity promotes critical thinking, analysis, and understanding of complex social issues.
This exercise explores gender norms and the challenges women face in overcoming them. Participants draw cards with gender norms, share personal or fictional stories of women who defy these norms, and discuss the difficulties they encounter. The exercise is played in 2 rounds so that participants join new groups to share their stories and broaden perspectives.
Learners will have the task to solve the “Joan of Arc Crossword”.
Learners will practice the Reverse thinking technique with the following statement: “What if women were considered superior to men in their skills?”
By exploring this hypothetical scenario, learners can develop a deeper understanding of gender biases, societal norms, and the potential impact of challenging traditional power structures.
